Larry Dignan’s blog on ZDNet today culled some very interesting data that compared the number of XP/Vista exploits against the number of Mac exploits in 2007. The data appears to be good and Larry spent a lot of time collating the numbers, but since my personal experience with all things Mac is now going on it’s 11th day, I’m not really a good judge of the blog post’s validity.
I can tell you that Mac’s days of existing in a squeaky-clean, virus-free cocoon are short-lived. Like John Travolta’s character in “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble,” Macintosh’s are wanting to kiss the girls, and pretty soon some nasty pathogens are going to take notice, and take advantage of, a faulty immune system.
When not referring to himself in the third person, Brian likes rain and getting caught in Pina Coladas. Oh, and let's not forget making love to Cape dunes. Yeah, those really do it for me....er, um.. I mean Brian.

While your tone about MACs has softened over your different blogs, like a typical PC guy (oh yeah that is me too) you look for vulnerabilities to cheapen MACs. I bet this would make a great commercial – oops already been done (itunes/podcatss/gadgets/appleclips/show#114).
I agree that MACs will need to be more cognizant about viruses, but it will be interesting to see if they are able to address them better than their counterpart – Microsoft. Moving to Intel however was still one of the brightest moves by Apple.
“The Boy in the Plastic Bubble” Are you kidding me?

[...] I said it before and I’ll say it again: Mac’s days of wine and roses are almost over. The bigger Apple gets, the bigger a target they will be for virus writers. [...]
